Sam Rocha is philosopher, musician, and angler in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is an associate professor at the University of British Columbia, author of several books, and released several albums of music. His eponymous trio plays locally.

Born in Brownsville, Texas, Sam has fished across the continental United States since childhood. Since arriving to British Columbia in 2014, his angling journey has slowly deepened, taking him into the BC traditions of centre-pinning gear and double-handed fly tackle for anadromous and amphidromous fish.

Stepping into this new angling journey has come with a steep, rewarding learning curve. His fishing journal records some of that learning and other fishing-related things.
